THE GIGANTIC TURNIP

“The little mouse tugged on the kitten’s tail, the kitten bit the puppy’s tail, the puppy bit the granddaughter’s hair, the granddaughter tugged on the grandmother’s clothes, the grandmother tugged on the grandfather’s clothes, and the grandfather grabbed the turnip.”

In a small family, there was an old man who planted a small turnip in his garden. However, by harvest time, the turnip had grown so large and heavy tha the old man could not lift it. It was only when the old woman, the granddaughter, the dog, the cat and even the little mouse all joined forces that the turnip was finally pulled up successfully.

“The Gigantic Turnip” is a meaningful lesson about the power of unity and optimism in life. The giant  turnip symbolizes the challenges and difficulties that each of us faces in life. Just like the members of the family in the story, we can overcome any obstacle if we work together and never give up.
